Let's face it, they use the term Dancing with the "Stars" rather loosely, don't they? Did you see last night's new kickoff to the season?
There was no Len. I am sorry, but I love Len. He is the grumpy dad who keeps everyone else in line and at least the slightest hint that this is about talent and improvement and not just a popularity show. I am skeptical about how this season will go without him.
But there was a Gary Busey. Holy cow! You just know that people are going to vote to keep him around a while for the sheer entertainment value of watching a train wreck in slow motion. His poor dance partner. Lawzy, do I feel bad for her.
And speaking of oh-my-god-what-were-they-thinking casting, did you see Paula Deen? Good lord. She was awful. She also managed to be disgusting by shoving her partner's face into her bosom several times, belching loudly and talking about how her white undies were no longer white. Now who wanted that mental image? And who can't get rid of that image?
The ones who shone and looked like they were enjoying themselves were Crocodile Hunter Daughter Bindi Irwin and Nick Carter of BSB fame.
And for some reason they have a married couple on and had them compete back to back and wait to get their scores at the same time. We get it. It's a competition. We get it. They are married and won't it be great fun to watch the sparks fly while the producers create drama and friction between the duo. I just don't think it's going to be as much fun as the DWTS people think it will.
Did you watch? Do you care about this competition any more?
The musings, ramblings and occasional rants from a massaging doula empty-nester.

Updates
Just last week I was ranting about not loving the endings to books, and I forgot one of the ones I had just read. "Gone Girl" was recommended by so many different people, I can't even tell you!!
And it was good. It was very cleverly written and drew you in to the story. I kept thinking the whole time I was reading it how much I really didn't like any of the characters. So I was not near as invested in the outcome of this book as I could have been. If any of the characters had been like-able, that is.
But the ending? Holy Cow! I did not see that coming. I was confused by it for a while. Then? I decided it was probably the way idiots like these would behave.
Remember a few months back I posted a list of recommended books? I have been working my way through that list (which is where I got "Gone Girl", by the by) and one of the books recommended was fabulous, outstanding and sensational!!!
This book was so darn good I just wanted to start it over again, right then and there. *****, that's a 5-star rating, is what that is.
So when I was at Half-Price Books I picked up another book by Christopher Moore.
Loved it!!! I finished it last night as it was a quick read. So clever and completely out there.
And you know what? He knows how to finish a book. I mean really finish so that it feels like a full-course meal from soup to nuts. Not just soup.
I was thinking about how I as a reader need to feel really engaged not just with the book but at times with the author as well. Sometimes that feeling of simpatico, of being kindred spirits just comes through and you have a real connection. And I wondered if authors are also trying to make that connection with their stories or if they are writing for themselves and we as readers can go along for the ride or not and we are really superfluous. How important is the audience for the writer? If no one was going to read them ever, would books be written anyway?
Is the writing of a book a "need" within the writer whether or not there would be readers?
Interesting questions to ponder.
Switching gears:
Did y'all see DWTS All Stars? Holy Moly! There was some fabulous dancing going on for Day 1 of competition!
All except for poor Pamela Anderson and little Bristol Palin. That was sad. The judges were so harsh with Pamela, too. I felt really bad for her. Poor thing was trying so hard not to cry on camera.
It's gonna be hard to pick a front runner this season with this line-up. They are all so good.
Switching gears again:
It has been so strange around here without our little Fergus Jackson MacPhee. He is greatly missed. His brother Angus is having some issues, as is Lester Buster. Lester and Fergus were snuggle buddies and Lester is having a hard time finding a comfortable spot without Fergus. It's sad.
And no, I do not want any more pets.
Mostly.

A little of this, A little of that
I have been silent for a while and I need to break that silence, but all the thoughts I have had for blog fodder are all jumbled up so I am liable to be flitting around from topic to topic. Grab yourself some caffeine and try to keep up!
Have you read about the gay penguin couple? Here is the latest update on them:
"After six years of lovingly building a nest together each spring, a pair of male Gentoo penguins named Inca and Rayas finally have an egg to keep in it. According to their keepers at Madrid's Faunia Park, the two are inseparable and have taken to parenting like, well, penguins to water. Inca has adopted the female role of incubating the egg, while partner Rayas watches over his buddy and the little one. Their keepers hope that the donated egg -- and the bub that hatches out of it -- will boost the pair's spirits. In past years, they apparently became rather blue during spring when surrounded by all their friends' newborns."

Awwwww. What a sweet story.
Did you watch the DWTS finale? I had no hopes that this season would be as good as it was. It really was great to watch. The final 4 were all so good that there was no reason to be disappointed no matter who won.
Speaking of finales, all the shows are having their season finales this past month and none more important to watch than Monday night's airing of the SERIES FINALE of House. The whole series is over. No more cranky pants House. No more weird diseases to be discovered and cured. No more co-workers to kill off. It was really good and stayed true to the character of the show. I hate it when they come up with some cutesy ending that fails miserably to resolve anything.
Oh! I found a new favorite blog! My absolute favorite blogger in the world is Martha Payne.
Have you heard of Martha? No?
Well, she is a 9 year old girl who lives in Scotland. And just the most clever thing around. I wish I had been that smart at 9. She was becoming disillusioned about the school lunches and she now writes a blog about it. She posts a photo of it and rates it on taste, nutrition, how many mouthfuls she actually gets (these photos of her lunches have shocked me by how small they are) and also by whether or not she finds a hair in them.
This is an eye-opening experiment. She asked for kids around the world to send in pictures of their own school lunches (or made at home and brought to school) to her for comparison. And yes, her dad is helping her by tweeting about this. And yes, Jamie Oliver is aware of this and encouraging her. He needs to get his gorgeous Naked Chef self up to Scotland and do something with their school lunches. Those meals have negligable protein, few vegetables, little or no fruit. Mostly carbs, bread, potatoes, pasta and the like. So go read Martha and send her some encouragement.
And on a completely different train of thought, in the paper this Sunday, right on the front page was an article titled "Despite changes, more kids are dying"
Seems that our county has taken the lead in Texas for most child deaths involving parents from abuse and/or neglect. Lovely. Our county has had 20 child deaths in the last fiscal year. We also had the most confirmed cases of abused and neglected children in the state, 5,915 which is more than the 5,493 for Houston which has nearly three times as many children as our city. More deaths with 1/3 the total number of children. Doesn't that make your stomach turn?
The article goes on for another full page of facts, details, information, etc. And it ends with a half page listing each of the 20 children who were killed and the pertinent facts of each of their cases. It made this very personal and real to see their little names, ages, cause of death and what criminal case or charges have been filed, that kind of outcome. I think these little ones deserve to be honored in this way and create some awareness and hopefully get more people to step up and volunteer to help.
Do any of you remember last July when I posted this?? This little angel boy was the last one listed on this page of 20. I had periodically checked the news online to see if anything had ever come of the father of this child admitting to hurting and ultimately killing this baby and never could find anything. So I read the little bit they had listed Sunday on this baby. And I am going to go ahead and type what is there since it is the newspaper I can assume there is no expectation of privacy. Here's what is said:
Kaleb Alexander Janosik
Age: 22 days
Date of death: July 24, 2011
Died of head injuries.
Father admitting to striking and biting the child.
Mother and father were found "reason to believe" for physical abuse.
Justin Janosik (father) pleaded guilty to murder, received a life sentence.
My heart just breaks for all 20 of these shameful deaths. One thing I looked at is that 11 of the 20 had previously been investigated by CPS so someone already knew there was a problem in the home. I don't know the answer to this horrific problem but I do know that I try my hardest to make sure my work with each of my clients helps them to fall in love with their children and to know there are resources for when they are overwhelmed and feel helpless.
If you feel so moved to help with abused and neglected children, consider becoming a CASA advocate. Or check with your CPS office and see what it takes to become a foster family for children in need. Some of our local high schools have nurseries for the babies while moms attend school and they need volunteers there to work with the babies. You can teach parenting classes. There are many ways you can get involved and make a difference in a child's life. Please make the effort. Don't just sit back and read about the tragedies being perpetrated on these young lives and do nothing. It really does take a village.

T.V. and other stuff
It's the new fall T.V. season and the finales of all the summer shows. Thank the good Lord that Big Brother is over! I don't even care that the loud obnoxious Rachel won. She was a better choice than the other two lame-os.
Here is my take on what is going on right now:
Biggest Loser - Two new trainers and Bob have teams divided by age. The young group chose the new guy that looks like a cross between Taye Diggs (yum) and the Old Spice dude (look at your man, now look at me). I don't know if I could work out and stay focused while looking at him. The middle (40-ish) group won the first challenge and got Bob. The old farts who practically strolled and sauntered instead of running, jogging, or even trying got stuck with Anna Kournikova. (and I know I just mangled spelling her name, but whatever. I will look up the correct spelling later)
I love Bob. But I have to say I miss Jillian yelling at everyone and being all up in their faces. She gets the job done. I haven't picked out a favorite contestant yet. There's one young guy named Ramon that I like a lot and some other guy that if I am not looking at the screen and just listening, he sounds just like John Goodman. The older team lost the first weigh-in and it was between 2 of the ladies as to who was going home. Now it was easy to see that the one lady with the bad knees who only lost 4 FREAKING POUNDS was going to be chosen because other people were losing 27 - 32 pounds and she only lost 4 FREAKING POUNDS! But then this other whiney lady stepped in and started berating her and just bitched her up one side and down the other for crying and trying to garner support with emotions.
You don't need much more information to guess who got sent packing. They would rather keep Ol' Weak Knees around for another week than some Whiney-Ass Mean Bitch. It was another case of "don't let the door knob hit ya!"
Survivor - I am so happy Survivor is back! I kinda wish we could have Boston Rob on every season. He really makes for great television. But we can't. So this season we have Ozzie back!! Yay! I love that Ozzie. For those of you who don't watch Survivor and haven't yet enjoyed Ozzie, check this out.
They also brought back that moron, Coach the Dragonslayer. This guy is such a tool it makes my head hurt to even think about him.
So they put the returning Ozzie and Coach each on the two different teams. And guess who Coach's new best little running buddy is? Evil Russell's nephew! And o.m.g.!!! What a total d-bag the nephew is!
Get this, he is pissed at this chick Micaela for being really well-built and strong and running around in almost nothing (like every other person on this island) and "tempting" him. And he is married and doesn't need her evil distractions around. So he is trying to rally the troops to get her voted out. What an asshole. He is clearly just a little troll like his uncle.
No real clear favorites here yet either. We shall see as the personalities develop and come shining through.
This season True Blood has just about Jumped the Shark. Every episode we watch and just say "Really? That's where they want to go with this?"
First season was vampires. Then shape-shifter Sam. Then werewolves. Then whatever it was that MaryAnn was. And now we have were-panthers, all sorts of witchcraft, and faeries. It's getting to be just a little much to keep up with.
And they totally messed with Erik's character. This season's Erik is such a pussy. Last season's Erik would kick this season's Erik's ass.
Bill (who I never liked) is just an ass. Sooki is an idiot. Jason is dumber than a box of hair. There is some wonderful comic relief with that Bellfleur clan.
Arlene the red-headed waitress was getting on to her rotten kids at the diner. They were all dressed up for Halloween and she told them "Now y'all better straighten up or I am going to make you go trick or treat at the trailer park! Do you WANT to get empty Coors cans and food stamps?"
Ha! Now THAT was hilarious!
The Big C - is some of the best writing and acting on t.v. Laura Linney, Oliver Platt and company deserve big kudos for this show. It is really wonderful.
Sons of Anarchy - Holy Moly! This season started out with a bang. A whole lot of bangs, actually. All the boys are out of prison and ready to get back to business. But wait! There's a new sheriff in town. And he's black! And he hates them! And he is secretly working with the FBI! And he didn't let them even drive through town without letting them know he is in charge. Ooooh. This is a great show.
Sunny's back!!! Yes indeedy, It's Always Sunny in Philly is back! This is such a great show. I can't say enough good things about it. A little tidbit I came across in an article on home birth is that Dee, played by Kaitlin Olson is married to Rob McElhenney (who plays Mac on the show) in real life, and they did indeed have a baby this year. At home, all safe and sound with no complications. Hooray for home birth! Hooray for Dee and Mac being married in real life!
Oooh! Here is what prompted this particular post to be about t.v. There is a new show coming out (no release date yet) called Celebrity Wife Swap. Like the regular Wife Swap wasn't shitty enough. You will NEVER in a million years guess who are the first two "Celebrities" who are swapping wives!!!
Ted I-am-not-gay Haggard and Gary Nutjob Busey
Can you even believe that? I will let you know as soon as I see that this trainwreck is airing.
And in other news:
I heard back from Con-Agra who owns the parent company who owns Ro-Tel. Con-Agra sees nothing wrong with BPA leaching into our food and is continuing in their practice to do this. They are now going to do it without my support.
I looked online at the Hatch products website and found an actual phone number to call and speak with an actual person! (gasp) Here's how that went:
Me: dialing, listening to the ring
Them: Hatch (that was it. Not, hello you have reached Hatch products, what can we do for you?)
Me: yes, I would like to not necessarily complain, but voice a consumer opionion.
Them: Okay.
Me: Who would I need to speak with?
Them: Oh, you can tell me and I will relay the information.
Me: Okay. Here's the deal. I love your products, especially the Green Chile Enchilada Sauce, but I am learning more and more about the BPA coating inside the cans and I won't be buying your products any more until that changes.
Them: Oh. I don't really know anything about that. But I will tell someone about it.
A few more minutes of this same thing and I hung up. What you will notice is:
A. It was really refreshing to have a phone number listed on the website to speak to real people.
B. That a real live person picked up the phone and didn't appear to be outsourced to Bangladesh.
C. That she NEVER ONCE asked me for my name, number, address or any follow-up information.
D. She seemed really unprepared to do this job.
That's it for today. Enjoy your Thursday and one last thing, I am still looking for a home for the teensy little Mama Kitty. She gets her tubes tied on Sunday morning and all her shots and will be ready to go to a loving home.
I have tried so many names out on her and none of them stick. I think maybe it is because I know she isn't my cat and my name for her isn't supposed to really be her name. The other cats have learned to peacefully co-exist with her, but they aren't warming up to her. She really has no one to play with or snuggle with. It makes me sad for her.

O.M.G. - You are gonna love this!
The new cast of the upcoming season of Dancing with the "Stars" has been announced!
Here it is:
Here it is:
- Ricki Lake (Former talk show host/actress)
- Rob Kardashian (Kim Kardashian's brother)
- Chaz Bono (Transgender advocate)
- Kristin Cavallari ("The Hills" star, pictured above)
- Chynna Phillips (Wilson Phillips)
- David Arquette (Actor)
- Elisabetta Canalis (George Clooney's ex)
- Nancy Grace (News anchor)
- Hope Solo (Soccer player)
- Ron Artest (Los Angeles Lakers player)
- J.R. Martinez ("All My Children" star)
- Carson Kressley ("Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" star)
Carson Kressley!!! Can you believe it? I adore him! Yay for Carson!
And don't you love how Rob Kardashian and Elisabetta Canalis have to have someone else's name in their bio to explain how they got to be considered as "Stars"??
Looks like a good cast and I am excited about it. Now we have to figure out who is going to be paired up with which professional dancer.
I bet they give that obnoxious pain in the ass Nancy Grace to Maks. That would be hilarious footage to watch him yelling at her.
Rumor has it that Derek Hough is going to be back this season. They will probably give him Chynna Phillips or the chick from The Hills.
Who in the world will they give to Carson? Maybe Kim Johnson? or Cheryl Burke? Hopefully not Karina Smirnoff. I won't be able to stand it if she yells at him.

In other news . . . . .
I am so sorry for the delay in posting anything. But I gotta tell you, after the horror of the last post I just could not figure out a decent way to segway into another topic. If and when anything happens on that issue, I will be sure to let you know.
So today I am going to ramble on about a few different topics, but first!
Fun with the Obits!
Yay!!! There were some doozies in this week's obits. But the first one we are going to talk about sparked a little ruckus in my very own kitchen. Here's what it said: "Juan M. is loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years and 11 months, Teresa S., 4 sons, 8 grandchildren, 1 greatgrandson and well as numerous loving relatives and friends."
**49 years and 11 months??!! You know good and well someone had already gone to a lot of effort to plan a huge shin-dig for this milestone, right? So I commented that if I were Teresa S. the beloved wife I would not only be sad but more than a little bit pissed off right about now.
This sparked a whole conversation about how you always read about women passing who have been predeceased by their husbands for years and decades, but men? 2 seconds after the wife dies they are back on the market and have a new wife right away. You know what I am talking about? You see it all the flipping time.
Here is where the controversy comes in. Mr. Big Ed (evil husband) chimes in and says "Well, you don't have to worry about that!"
Me: "Really?"
Evil Husband: "Oh yeah, after 30 years of marriage, who would do THAT again?"
insert 30 seconds of crickets chirping and it slowly soaking in his brain that he actually said that out loud.
Evil Husband: "Um, what I mean to say is that, you know, 30 years is enough."
Yeah, like THAT was so much better. Another short time to let that soak in and then he comes up with this gem:
"What I am trying to say is that after 30 years of you, how could anyone else compare and why would I even bother!"
Whatever. You know the "he needed killing" defense?
Back to the obits, and not Mr. Big Ed's.
An interesting one began this way "Rick lost his life to lung cancer, on the island of Kauai. He was there accepting a job to teach arts and craft."
**Ok, I have questions. Did he know he had lung cancer before he moved to Hawaii to teach? Was he diagnosed after the move? Did he not want to come back home to the loving family here in Texas to spend his remaining days? The family did write a very loving and beautiful tribute to him so I don't think there were any hard feelings.
And we have a tie for Most Interesting Way to Say Your Loved One is Deceased. I will quote the opening to both and let you be the judge.
1. "Lights must have dimmed at chic tourist spots and fine dining establishments around the globe on July 26, when Mary Jane passed after a long illness. She was 85. The fashionable redhead was an enthusiastic world traveler who was always the center of attention, livening up any gathering with her stories and opinions, facts and wise observations, gained from her globetrotting and life experience."
2. " 'O-75' The final bing ball of the final bingo game has been called as the final child of Daniel and Louevie Ophelia was called home on July 27, at the age of 96. She joins her parents, her brothers; Major, Homer, John, Douglas and her sisters; Robbie and Louise as she passes into the hands of the Lord and eternal rest."
**What say you? Weren't both of those awesome?
Sadly, we are still following the trend towards more and more deaths due to complications of Alzheimer's. There were no other small children or babies listed other than the one I shared with you on the last post. My heart still breaks and I still cry every time I think about it.
New topic!
Anyone watching summer t.v.?
Big Brother started up and I was so excited to get to see Evel Dick again and then *poof* he was gone!
Hell's Kitchen is on and it has got to be hard to find that many annoying cooks.
Weeds and the Big C are back on Showtime and both are shaping up to have a great season.
Entourage is back for it's final season.
Celebrity Rehab is on and good Lord! What a bunch of idiots!
I hope things are well with you and you are enjoying your summer (or winter if you are reading from the southern hemisphere!).
Big Ed's.

Evil Husbands and sundry things to discuss
1. I have been gone (not just from the blog world) but gone from my home and out of town. I am not at liberty to discuss the particulars of this impromptu trip. Suffice it to say, it was necessary and not a pleasure cruise.
2. Evil husbands. Mr. Big Ed is going to find a big boot in his ass if he doesn't keep his grubby hands off my gorgeous computer. I realize he gave it to me as a gift for my birthday. But that does not give him any more license to fuck with it than it would for him to go wear the jewelry he has given me. Right?
He did something and I don't really know what it was, but something that has caused my computer and iPhoto in particular to not recognize my camera and I can't get pictures from my camera onto the computer and here. So now you can't see the photos of the little tiny rescue mama kitty and the two precious little babie kittens.
And it is all Mr. Big Ed's fault. He was supposed to use the time that I was gone to try and rectify that situation but that didn't happen. No baby kitten pics for you. Courtesy of Mr. Big Ed.
Hmmmpphh.
3. BIG BROTHER!! First off, Evel Dick is back!
And then he is gone.
WTF???
He has posted a long-winded video on his website about how he loves BB, and CBS and even Danielle and how all the rumors are wrong.
So Evel Dick is out. Who do we like out of this cast? Certainly not that loud obnoxious Rachel or her idiot boyfriend. I do like Jeff and Jordan, but good Lord, if those two had a brain they would take it out and play with it. Probably lose it after that.
But the new herd? I can't tell if I like any of them or not. Do you have any favorites?
4. Celebrity Rehab - Oh my.
What is up with Amy Fisher? There is more than one screw loose with that girl.
5. I haven't read the obits to share with you in several weeks now. I promise to do that after this Sunday's edition of the paper.
6. Remember that I was doing some new diet plan with my friend Judy? Well, I did the Phase 1 for 5 or 6 days, and then moved on to Phase 2, and Phase 3. Then I found a different diet that is a 3 day plan and did that for a while. I just did the 3 days and repeated. Like lather, rinse, repeat, you know.
Then when I was gone on my little trip it was impossible to keep up with it so I just went with the rest of the group and didn't make a fuss. I got right back on the diet today so I am hoping some of these healthier choices I have been making will become second nature and can quit worrying, planning and working so hard at this.
I had lost 10 lbs when I last checked. The weight loss is important but I am not going to obsess over the scale and the numbers. I am trying to reduce my craving for sugar and carbs and get healthy, increase my metabolism and these things are all just as important as the weight loss.
7. My s-i-l was recently on a fabulous European vacation and I got a gift from her trip!! Yay!! What do you think she brought me?
Did you guess tea?
Did you guess tea that comes in fabulously colored tins?
How about FIVE OF THEM?? Woot!!
They are all exquisite, each one more intriguing-sounding than the last.
Such a pity that Mr. Big Ed has made it impossible for me to show you the lovely teas. Dastardly dog.
8. We still have the rescue mama kitty and the two babies. They are 10 days old today. The babies have already got homes promised to them when they are six weeks old or so. But the poor little mama kitty doesn't have a home to go after that. If any of you want her and can provide her a loving warm home, please let me know. She has a very calm and loving nature and deserves to have a home of her own.
9. I made a new recipe of Baked Tofu Bites tonight and tossed some of them on a bed of spinach and poured a bit of the marinade on it as a dressing. They were really good. I am one of the few people I know who really like tofu.
10. Breaking Bad starts back on Sunday. Don't miss it! I can't wait to see what Walter and Jesse get up to this season. I wonder if the brother-in-law DEA guy will make it through this season?
Wish me luck in figuring out what to do about my camera/computer relationship and getting it fixed.

Lots to tell!
It has been a really long week, which is why I haven't posted anything. But here goes! And please forgive the random way these thoughts may jump around, but that is the way my brain works. If you and I have ever had a conversation you already know this about me and probably expect it.
First and foremost, I want to say this and get it over with. The Casey Anthony trial just finished. I obsessed over this damn case since it first happened. Then there was nothing in the news. Nothing. I would search online for what was going on. Who could believe it was going to take 3 whole years to get to trial? So when I found that they were going to televise the proceedings I was all over that. I felt like I had watched this unfold from the beginning and wanted to see it through.
How on earth the state of Florida allowed the only 12 people in this country who didn't think Casey was guilty to be on that jury is a puzzler, for sure. Were they not seeing the same witnesses I was? Did they not hear the same testimony? They found her guilty of 4 counts of providing false information to law enforcement. Why would she do that? Was she hiding something? Like maybe? Oh I don't know . . .
How about the TRUTH?
The truth of what really happened to Caylee. Who knows the truth? Only Caylee, the murderer and God. Unless the murderer is more than one person. But by Casey hiding the fact that Caylee was dead for 31 days (which by the way it is ONLY 31 days because Cindy called the cops, NOT because Casey decided to ask for help finding her "missing" child. It could have been 131 days if not for Cindy.) and then lying to the police and FBI that were now on the case looking for this missing child and leading them on a wild goose chase in all sorts of wrong directions, she sent a clear message that she didn't want them to find the truth.
Why would you do that? What motivation was there for misleading the very people who were trying to bring your child home?
And this jury saw fit to say Casey was not guilty of 1st degree murder. She was not guilty of aggravated child abuse. She was not guilty of manslaughter.
She is only guilty of 4 counts of lying. It's the motivation behind the lying that they seem to have missed.
My heart just sank when they started reading the verdicts of these charges and I realized that justice would not be served in this case. That poor tiny child died a needless, senseless death and no one will pay for it. I was stunned, I was sickened, and this horrible uncomfortable feeling came over me that it is too easy to get away with murder in this country. I don't want that to be true.
So I am done, D U N, talking, obsessing, thinking about this trial. I hope Casey never has a day's peace. And I am done.
In other news, I was at a birth this week. Mom and Dad labored beautifully and were so in tune with each other. I was so impressed to see him rise to this occasion. I am never sure about how dads are going to be in birth. Some tell me ahead of time how they see their role and we get a plan of how to best engage dad and keep him where he is comfortable and still best able to support the mom. But this guy? He so totally exceeded my expectations. It was fabulous to watch. Which brings me to this, why did I have expectations? I should have an open mind and not set these expectations or limitations for that matter of what I think will happen and how people will behave in labor. I never want to bring any judgement to a labor. And I hope I didn't.
We had a very low-key weekend celebrating Mr. Big Ed's belated birthday and also 4th of July. Lots of grilling of food and just hanging out. No fireworks around here. Remember the drought we are having? It's still the worst on record since they started keeping such records. It is bad. I could care less about the stupid grass, but I do want there to be enough water to keep our trees sustained and if possible to keep the garden going.
Oh! remember the silk solar lanterns that I got Mr. Big Ed for fathers day last year?
Here's a look at them from last year:
Well, I got him SIX MORE!!!
We have them hanging in the trees under which we have the new table and chairs. It was magical sitting out there last night under the silk lanterns. They have the softest light and they just float in the breeze. Lovely.
In other, other news! You all know that Sparky and his girlfriend live here, right? Well, she is a barista at a world-famous coffee shop that shall not be named. And on Sunday, she found this little stray kitty had wandered up to the front of this coffee shop and was very obviously pregnant and in distress. So she found a box to put her in and the next thing you know, she is acting as this cat's doula. 2 little babies were born in that box while she continued to talk reassuringly and stroke the new mama kitty. Awww, it warms my heart to think about it.
She called the humane society who told her they would send someone to get them and foster them. And you know what?
THEY NEVER SHOWED!!!
What dickheads. And a co-worker said she would take them to her house but backed out at the last minute. Yet another dickhead.
We could not in good conscience leave her and those babies helpless in a cardboard box on a busy street, so we are fostering all 3 of them. We are also looking for a good cat shelter to take them. If any of you have good advice about this, I would appreciate it. There is no way I am keeping 3 more cats. No. fucking. way. I already have 2 10-year old cats who piss and shed on everything. I have 2 5-year old cats who kill birds, squirrels, and various wildlife. I have 2 geriatric 14-year old dogs that are not doing well. And to top it off I have 4 year old Ernest T. Bass who wants to kill the cats and keeps trying to climb the Alpha pet ladder. He is on the bottom rung of that ladder and is staying there, so he just needs to get over it. So no way we are keeping these 3 precious gray stripey kitties.
But they could be yours! I will post some pictures right away so you can see how absolutely precious they are. That mama cat is so sweet and loving and just a joy. And the 2 teensy little 2-day old babies? O.M.G.!!! Are they ever adorable.
Be on the lookout for the most awww-inspiring pictures coming soon!!

More Boston Rob headed your way!
I just found this article online that says that Boston Rob is going to be the star of the new reality show.
Here is the link to the People.com article. In case you don't want to click over, the pertinent facts are these:
"Mariano and monster truck impresario Dennis Anderson will star in a new series for History this year, PEOPLE has learned.
In Around the World in 80 Ways, Mariano and Anderson will challenge each other to circumnavigate the globe using 80 different methods of transportation with the caveat that each cannot repeat any way twice. "
Sounds to me like it might be worth tuning in for!
And here's another look at Boston Rob to tide you over till the new show starts.

Fall t.v. charted out
There is nothing I love more than a good list or a chart. And I was most excited to discover the T.V. Guide fall lineup chart.
I checked further and T.V. Guide also has a summer viewing chart for all the summer series that started up in June.
Don't forget! Tomorrow starts the new season of True Blood.
And Monday is the return of Weeds and The Big C. I can not wait to see what shenanigans Cathy gets herself into!
July 7th is Big Brother.
Enjoy your weekend!

Obsessing Still
We interrupt the continual whining and bitching about plastic and it's ubiquitousness to bring you the latest in my obsession of the Casey Anthony trial.
Prosecution is still laying out their case and they are doing a bang-up job. Very methodical and thorough. And you should know here that my only experience is that I have served on two trials and watched the OJ case from start to finish. So take my opinions for just that, a layperson's opinion.
Today, Dr. G Medical Examiner gave her testimony on the stand and she kicked some legal ass. She really explains herself well and most clearly.
Right now the judge Belvin is rendering a decision on whether some testimony will be admitted or not. It is from a pathology/anthropologist expert and is a video of the skull with a photo of Caylee's face superimposed over it to show the landmarks of nose, chin, lips, etc. and then with the duct tape over it to show that the tape did in fact cover both the nose and mouth.
It boggles my mind that anyone could kill and dispose of this 2 year old child in such a manner. Whether it was Casey or someone else, does not make it any less heinous.
Are any of y'all watching this trial? Let me hear from you!

Interrupting the Plastic Stories
I am interrupting the June Plastic Ban stories to tell you that in 20 days there will be new (and hopefully good shit) to watch on t.v. Yay!!!
First up and most importantly:
True Blood returns to HBO on June 26. That Erik Northman is one tall, blonde and gorgeous vampire. I wonder will they bring back the ever-so-attractive Alcide, the half-man, half-wolf guy? Word on the street is that they will bring in a coven of witches this season.
Weeds and The Big C are making their summer returns on June 27. Looking forward to both of those shows.
And finally, that wiener Dr. Drew is bringing back a group of "Celebrities" to his rehab clinic. With 2 of his former graduates dying from their addictions in recent months, it might be time to re-think his strategy.
Here is the cast that has been announced:
Michael Lohan - famous for being a dick of a dad. (Vh1, that is stretching the word "celebrity" a bit much, don't you think?)
Sean Young - actress known for having a bad attitude
Amy Fisher - really? Weren't her 15 minutes of fame over like 20 years ago? Yawn
Bai Ling - the weirdo actress who seems to be famous for making the "Worst dressed list" continually. I think when they make that list they just start out with her name on it already because they know it will just stay there. She seems to be a wack job.
Jessica "Sugar" Kiper - from Survivor a few seasons ago.
Dwight "Doc" Gooden - baseball player. I guess they are calling athletes "celebrities" now.
Steven Adler - former drummer for Guns n Roses is back for his second stint at rehab with Dr. Drew. I wish him much more luck than poor Mike Starr had.
Jeremy Jackson - from Baywatch. Remember Baywatch? from back in the day?
I wish all 8 of these people the absolute best in their quest for recovery, but I am not sure that 2 weeks on camera at Dr. Drew's place is going to cut it.
Does anyone know when Sons of Anarchy is due back? I believe it is a summer show and it seems like it has been a really long time since the last season.
Also! Don't forget Big Brother is back on July 7th. Woot!!

Obsession
Oh Lord above, it might be a really L O O O O O N N N N N N G G G G G G summer!
I am spending every free moment glued, and I mean glued to the screen watching the Casey Anthony Trial live. And it is excruciatingly s l o w going. Her lawyer seems to be a douchebag and I don't care for him one whit. The judge is no Lance Ito, that's for sure. He's not even anywhere near a good old-fashioned Judge Wapner. He is slow. s l o w.
Have I mentioned this trial is moving slowly? It might still be going 20 years from now. Someone will come in here and find my decrepit, stiff dried-up corpse with my claw-like hand stuck to the mouse STILL watching this oh-so-unquick-like moving trial. I can sit here and watch cold molasses move faster than this trial moves.
This new obsession is in addition to my usual summertime Big Brother watching. Big Brother comes on 3 times a week, and (hopefully) they have late-night live feeds on showtime every night, AND if that isn't enough watching time you can also subscribe to the live feeds on your computer and watch those crazy houseguests/hamsters all day every day. Please note that I did NOT say 24/7, because I loathe that little set of numbers.
Anyhoo, that is what I am doing. When I am not working, I mean. What are you doing? Any new obsessions you care to share with the class?

T.V. Finales
So, I have been traveling to my nephew's graduation with his MBA and not here to post anything, but I am home for a while till the next nephew's graduation from high school in a few weeks!
And last night there were two great t.v. series' season finales. First up was Survivor.
This whole season belonged to Boston Rob. I can not think of a single thing he did that was wrong in hind sight, not even a teeny bit stupid. He played impeccably. He was driven, focused and never once got swayed into doing something stupid. Unlike every other player on his team and the other. Every single person (aside from BR) made a bone-headed move. I am sooooooo happy that he won. He deserved it and I can not imagine another outcome to this season.
Congratulations Boston Rob!
That Amber is a lucky girl, isn't she? First, she proves herself to be the winner of her season. She gets proposed to on national t.v. Then they go on Amazing Race. And now they each have won their own million bucks. Plus he got the extra fan favorite $100,000. So that's pretty cool, too.
My guess is that they will never let him play again. Hee!
And then we had the season finale of Desperate Housewives. Let me just say this: If it weren't for Gabby & Carlos I would have shut the door on this show 2 or 3 seasons ago. Gabby is just the perfect blend of hilarious self-centeredness and fierce love and loyalty to her husband, daughters and friends when needed.
Susan is ridiculous. Just plain ridiculous.
Bree. I don't even know what to say about her.
Lynette. It is flat-out painful to watch her emasculate her husband week in and week out and then be shocked that he reacts to that treatment.
Thank God they have Karen McCluskey on that street to just tell those nasty bitches how things really are!
I am not sure if I will be able to stand another season of this show or not. Any thoughts?
p.s. Less than 2 months to the new season of Big Brother! Any one up for all-nighters watching the Showtime after dark and watching the feeds 24 hours? Gawd, I hope there will be some fun and interesting characters this year.

T.V. shows 2011 Part 2
For some reason I am not posting a regular update on what's happening on t.v. Maybe t.v. is lame? Maybe I have become all high-brow and don't watch as much t.v.? Nah, that couldn't be it.
Here's what I do know!
Survivor - I love me some Boston Rob! I hope he makes it. I hope he kicks some ass and they never see it coming. And Evil Fucking Russell? *Ding dong, the witch is dead*!!! The new people on this season that I love to watch are Phillip and his pink saggy drawers (ewww, and gross) and that other guy Ralph who is wearing the "awesome man sweater". Have you ever in all your born days SEEN so much body hair?
You know what would be even grosser than all the above? If Ralph was wearing Phillip's pink saggy drawers, that's what!
Sadly, I don't care for any of the women this season. Not a one.
Amazing Race - This is shaping up to be a great season. I love all these teams and am glad to see them back. The most hilarious thing ever! was last night when they were in China and Ron and Christina who being Chinese speak the language and have actually traveled in that area before were so far ahead he got to stop for some of his favorite snacks. And then he kept wanting to stop and eat every five minutes. The whole show was Christina saying "Dad! Dad! No, quit eating that. No, you have to wait till the pit stop" Hee!!!
My Big Redneck Wedding - I know, you are asking yourself "what the hell is Lisa Pie talking about now?" This is without a doubt, hands down the absolute trashiest show on t.v. The funniest shit I have ever seen. I love it. This show is on either Friday or Saturday nights on CMT. Love. It.!
Shameless - I don't know how they continue to top themselves week after week on this show. Every person on here is so good. Even characters you think are just in the periphery, will blaze in and just kick ass the next week. Honestly, there are awards written all over this for these people. Five stars and two thumbs way up!
Big Love - It's almost over and there is absolutely no resolution anywhere on any front for any of these people. I have no clue how they are going to end this series. I have really enjoyed watching it over the seasons and hope like hell they are going to come up with a doozy of an ending. None of those damn stupid Sopranos endings.
True Blood - sometime this summer the new season starts. If you aren't up to date, you have plenty of time to get that way!
U.S. of Tara - coming soon! Another big winner for Showtime. Hurry and get caught up and be ready for the new season!
Top Shot - Ok, this show is on the History Channel. Seems odd. But they do use some really old weapons. Maybe that is the connection? I like this show a lot and I love Colby Donaldson and am glad to see him getting the work.
Modern Family - Hilarious! Best comedy out there! Can not say enough good things about this show. Watch it.
DWTS - Really? It's coming soon and I am sooooo underwhelmed. I will be watching Kirstie & Maks and probably ole Ralph Macchio. But yeah, not the best casting ever.
Desperate Housewives - Paul Young? His weirdo son? Recycle ideas and bad guys much? You know, if it weren't for Gabby and Carlos I would have quit watching 2 seasons ago.
So we have the new cast of Celebrity Rehab announced, but as usual, no one we are all really rooting for and wanting this sobriety for them so bad. You know what I mean?
That's all I can think of right now. Let me know what you are watching and what you think!

Who, again?
Alright, so they announced the new cast of DWTS. I don't know why the casting people can't seem to remember that the name of the show is Dancing with the STARS, not Dancing with the Has-Beens, Losers, Wanna-Be's and people we have never heard of show.
Did you see the cast yet? Now, they haven't told us yet who will be paired with which dancing pro, so that could improve how this season will shake out.
Here's a photo of the complete cast, rather than a whole bunch of pics to look at and say "Who?" each time.
The two names that jumped right out as people that could be considered "stars" are Kirstie Alley and Ralph "The Karate Kid who seems to have had too much botox" Macchio. There is another person that I have seen on t.v. before named Wendy Williams who has a show on BET. Personally, I always thought she was a trannie.
Then the usual one or two athletes led by Sugar Ray Leonard. After that, I have no clue who these people are. Do you? Give me some scoop on them, please.
I am waiting to see who gets paired up with whom before I get excited (or depressed) BUT! I will tell you this, I am betting dollars to donuts that they try to stick Maks with Kirstie. She's known for being loud, opinionated and feisty. Pairing her up with Maks will make for some great practice footage.
Any opinions yet? Let me hear from you!

T.V. shows 2011 Part 1. Oh and FREE TEA
It is that time again. February is sweeps month or some such thing and that is when all the shows pull out all the stops to make some great t.v. and hopefully revenue. You would think that they would want this high quality programming all the time on their networks, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
First up: Glee! Did you see last night? This new chubby chick they brought in who has always been such a grump was a hoot and a half. She was just precious. I kept thinking to myself "Self, I wish you had that kind of confidence and balls back in high school. Hell, I wish I had that NOW!!" Love her attitude. And Kurt and his almost-boyfriend were featured. I miss him when he isn't on all the time, but I am happy that he is in the other school and thriving. ('Cause you know, he's real, and the school is real and the situation is real!) I know, I am a dork.
Top Shot 2 started up last night. I could not have been more excited! Joann, I know you don't watch much t.v., but please tell your husband to look for this show on the History Channel. It is really interesting and fun to watch all these marksmen learn new weapons and new challenges. And as a bonus, it stars Colby Donaldson.
Yes, THAT Colby. From Survivor. He is such a doll. So, Tuesday nights on History Channel, be there or be square!
Mr. Sunshine - new series for Matthew Perry starts up tonight. I don't know anything about it, but I love Matthew Perry and I am willing to give it a shot.
DWTS - No word yet on who the so-called "celebrities" will be, but it is reported that Derek Hough won't be back for this season. That's too bad, he is really, really good. But maybe it is better for the others to try and rise up and fill that spot. Cross your fingers we don't have a bunch of losers and has-beens and wanna-be's this time.
Shameless - If you haven't been watching this new series on Showtime, why the hell not? William H. Macy has found the role of his life playing this sad, hilarious, unfortunate, drunk, single dad of six kids. It is set in Chicago and each week it seems to surpass itself in what all they can cram in to an hour long show. Fabulous. I can guarantee there will be nominations for this show. Watch it, you won't regret the time invested in it.
Episodes - This is another new Showtime series that comes on right after or before Shameless. It is one of those things that is so silly and far-fetched it has to be based on truth! Matt Le Blanc is so good in this. I know, you don't believe me, but he really is. Just sit through the first 2 episodes of Episodes and you will be hooked.
Big Love - This is the last, final season for this HBO hit. What will happen to the Henrichsons? Will Bill get to keep his state representative seat? Will all 3 sister wives stay with the family? Will the oldest daughter Sara ever show up? How about Barb's 3 child, Teeny? Where is she? Will anyone finally put Albie out of his misery? He is one evil dastardly dog, he is! What's up with Nicki's daughter? They all seem to be going off the deep end. But not together. They each have their own secret hell and misery to contend with. I like this show. I like how much I have learned about the off-shoot of Mormon polygamists. It sure made a lot more sense of the mis-guided raid on the polygamist compound here in Texas from a couple years ago. What a complete cluster-f*uck that was!
And to wind things up today, just a reminder to let me know if you want your name in the hat for the FREE TEA!! Yes, I am trying to whittle down my tea stash by any means possible and I am now resorting to pawning it off on you. : )
I promise any teas I send out will be fabulous and I hope you will love them. Let me hear from you if you want to be one of the lucky winners.

Mid-week stuff
It's the first Wednesday of the new year. I haven't listed my resolutions yet. Pretty much it's going to be the same ones as last year, only this year I will try to remember all of them!
1. I will still be shooting for $20,000 in my savings acct.
2. I will make all my Christmas gifts and I WILL start much earlier this year.
3. I will take charge of my health and doing what I can to get this arthritis thing under control.
4. I will increase my activities of lightening my global footprint. Which is at 3.5 right now. I can't believe it is so high! Most all of that is due to living in a hot climate and having to use a/c all the time and what isn't attributed to that, goes to driving a car. I just do not live in the right place.
I didn't do the obits last week or this past Sunday either. So I will just give you the highlights of this week:
"Maria Elena found peace with the Lord on Dec. 24"
"In memory of our late father, Pledger Bracket, please help save minds by donating to the Alzheimer's Assoc."
"Katheryn Gaynelle age 89, fell asleep in death due to complications of Alzheimer's disease".
"Howard E. (Bubba), age 67, passed away"
One guy "passed into God's hands" while another man "slipped into the Lord's hands".
But my favorite was this:
"George Eugene lived joyfully with his beloved wife of 67 years."
Living joyfully with your beloved sounds like just the kind of legacy I would like to leave behind.
. . . . . . . . and without further ado . . . . . . . . . . .
The very first winner of a free bag of tea is . . . . . .
Sarah with an H, as opposed to other Sara's without H's, please shoot me an email with a mailing address and I will send you a lovely bag of tea.
Next month we will do the same thing. So make sure you are here during the first week of the month if you want to get in on this excitement. 'Cause what is more exciting than free stuff?!!
On to other news, did any of you watch the first episode of the new season of Biggest Loser last night? I did not understand this at all. But if I were Bob or Jillian I would be dusting off my resume'. This does not bode well for either of them. Yes, I have seen the gossip reports that Jillian will be leaving after this season. But Bob? What about Bob? And still after the 2 hour long opener we have not seen the faces or names of the "Unknowns" as they are calling the new trainers. Very strange.
Have a great day!

Lots of stuff to report
Isn't it interesting how you rock along in your everyday life and nothing spectacular happens and you have to comb through the card catalogue that is your mind for something worthwhile to talk about?
Isn't it interesting that I think of my brain as a card catalogue? I do. I think of it as lots and lots of those teeny little card drawers and each little bit of information and facts and trivia are each stored on their own little card. Many are cross-referenced into lots of locations. But as I have gotten older I have added more and more files with more and more drawers each just chock-a-block FULL of information. And as I have gotten older it takes a little longer each time I have to sift through the wealth of knowledge to find just that certain particular bit that I need. Some people might think I have menopausal brain, or I am a dingbat, but no. I am here to tell you it just means I have more drawers to sift through.
So, last night was our theatre night. And we normally go to dinner ahead of time. There are only so many restaurants downtown around the theatre (don't you like that I am using the British spelling theatre?) that are open on Sunday nights. The rest of the week? Hell, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a really good restaurant down there!
Anyhoo, I was reading the paper Sunday morning waiting for Patty Cakes to get up so we could read the obits, and while I was waiting I read the food section. It's all about recipes, farmers markets, restaurants, people that have re-done their kitchens, etc. The usual food section faire. There were 2 articles about this new restaurant that opened less than 2 weeks ago and I was so excited to see that they were in fact, OPEN!
This is John Besh's first foray outside of New Orleans. We are soooooo happy to have him here in our fair city! I was beside myself. Not to mention a year ago when he was on The Next Iron Chef I watched that series on the edge of my seat and was really hoping and praying he would win. Nope. Michael Simon won instead.
Here is a photo of the glorious Mr. Besh for you to peruse.
But that's okay. Because if he had won, we might not have this restaurant to go eat at. So, when we have theatre tickets we have to dine really early because otherwise everything is closed at 10 p.m. when we leave. I got online and made reservations for us at 5:30 for a 7:30 curtain call. The restaurant is only a block or so away from the theatre so it worked out perfectly.
Here's my review of our first dinner at Luke (which has the little umlout thingy over the "u", but I don't know how to do that and don't really care to figure that out right now). The restaurant is very typical of a New Orleans brasserie/bistro. I had a couple of complaints that were minor and did not concern the food at all. First off, the tables are way too small. Like 28" square. Small. Smaller than a card table small. And for 4 people with water carafes, salt and pepper, glasses, etc. even before the plates and food get there. Too small. Secondly, our waiter was new and "overly-trained". I hate that. But not near as much as Mr. Big Ed hates that. I could see him visibly cringe every time the waiter walked up, took in a huge amount of air in his lungs and started talking. That boy needed to learn to relax and also? Take a breath!
One more irritating thing and then I will tell you all about the sumptuous food. The restaurant is on the ground floor with outdoor seating overlooking the river. The kitchen? Up a huge curved staircase. They had more young boys (not the waiters) hauling big heavy trays full of food up and down the staircase than you could count. That seemed to me to be unnecessarily taking the chance that your food would come flying down the stairs with the poor waiter-wannabe. It's not as if they had a gorgeous old building and that's the way it was designed and there was nothing they could do about it. This is a brand spanking new hotel that was just finished. So someone made a conscious decision to do it this way.
Now, on to the food! Oh, the food! It was so wonderful. In addition to the regular menu there is also a Daily Special section that has a different special every day of the week. The special is a cup of soup, the special of the day and the bread pudding. So it's a 3-course dinner for under $30. You can't beat that with a stick. The regular menu was beautiful. And small. Not tons of offerings, just the right amount of each.
So at our table we had 3 appetizers; the Steak Tartare, a dozen fresh oysters and a rabbit and quail liver pate'. They were each fabulous. And gorgeously presented. The pate' was one of the best I have ever had. I am sure my arteries clogged up just looking at it. Spectacular is what it was.
Then for entrees: 2 of us had the daily special which was a cup of the gumbo, smoked brisket with potatoes and bacon lardons, and then the bread pudding for dessert. Also appearing at our table was the Wild Boar chop with fries and a big steaming pot of mussels with fries and bread to sop up the liquid.
We had the bread puddings and also an order of profiteroles for dessert.
Everything was superb.
Oh! And guess who was there? Gregg Popovich! Coach Pop of the San Antonio Spurs! Yes, it was a Spurs sighting. I don't know what he was eating, but I do know he was celebrating our win from earlier in the day. Go Spurs Go! Gotta love those Spurs.
One more thing, did anyone watch the finale to Amazing Race? I came home to watch it on my dvr which very nicely recorded it. Or so I thought! It definitely recorded CBS from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. but that isn't what I got.
I have complained (and complained mightily I might add) about fucking football running over. And then 60 minutes runs over. And then prime time television is off by as much as a whole hour and all the programming of tivo and dvrs all over the world is for naught. I can't tell you how much this irritates the beejeebers right out of me! It should not be allowed. If they are consistently running over, then schedule accordingly! Why do I have to fix everything? It doesn't seem that complicated to me. Either get the game over in the allotted time or cut off the end of the flipping game. That should rile up some people and then maybe the stupid fucking NFL would quit being such wussies and taking time outs every 5 seconds. Play through like they do in soccer! It's ridiculous. Move the game along or move it off my t.v.
Dastardly dogs.
So I did not get to see the ending of the AR. I had to wait and go online this morning to find out who won, but I didn't get to see them do it and by how much ahead of the other teams. Seems like a waste of a whole season. Like getting a book and having the last chapter removed but someone gives you the very last page. Aaarrrggh!
And what is up on Wisteria Lane? Good Lord! Those people are jacked up on meth or something. What a strange episode that was!
All done now. I have a client who may or may not be in labor. So I may or may not be going to a birth. Wish us luck that she gets a safe, healthy birth with a beautiful baby at the end.
Have a great day and remember just 12 days till Christmas!

Another O.M.G. moment and then an Awwwww . . .
I know, those of you who aren't reality t.v. show nuts like me, or birth junkies like me probably don't care about the exploits of the 16 and Pregnant girls. But bear with me on this one.
In the original 16 and Pregnant series there were a few stand-outs that made the cut for the follow-up Teen Mom series. They included Catelynn and her fiance' Tyler, and Amber and her sometimes boyfriend/sometimes fiance'/sometimes punching bag Gary.
After the series aired it showed Amber repeatedly hitting and smacking the shit out of Gary and he never once fought back. It was really hard to watch. Especially since little Leah their now one year old daughter was right there to witness it all. This relationship is a trainwreck through and through. Neither are mature enough and she is one of the most self-centered people on the planet. Poor little Leah will have lots of documentation to take to therapy with her when she is older. Anyhoo, the city they live in finally got off their asses and filed charges against Amber and removed Leah from her care while this was going on. I would imagine anger management classes were ordered. Leah was living with Gary in the meantime. It recently came out in the news that Amber has custody reinstated and Leah is now back home with her. And what better way to mark the occasion than this:
I am sure this will be lovely the next time she is pregnant. And by the by? Leah is way cuter than that tattoo photo makes her out to be.
The next bit of news on the Teen Mom front is this: Catelynn and Tyler were the only couple who chose adoption for their baby. It's a fairly open adoption in that they receive regular photos, letters and updates from the adoptive parents. They also send gifts and were invited to come and spend a weekend for baby Carly's first birthday. Catelynn and Tyler are so well-grounded and do not engage in lots of teen angst and drama. Which is a miracle when you see their background and family trees. Tyler's dad, Butch, spent most of Tyler's life in prison. He sports a really long salt-and-pepper mullet and a trucker hat. When he got out of prison a few years ago the first thing he did was to go and marry Catelynn's MOM!!! Catelynn and Tyler are really the smartest ones not only in their families but on the whole damn series.
Here is an article about them with a photo and yes, those are braces on Catelynn's teeth. She is managing to keep up with her orthodontia through all this. Oh! And when they went to see Carly for her birthday, they brought the most amazing photo/scrap book they had made for her with photos and little memorabilia from each of them throughout their lives. It was the sweetest most tear-jerking moment on reality t.v. That little girl is going to treasure it all her life.
When Catelynn gave birth to Carly the adoptive mom came and gave her a beautiful silver bracelet with a heart on it. She had gotten one for herself, one for Catelynn and one for Carly to wear when she is bigger, as a symbol of how connected the 3 of them are and always will be. I about fell out of my chair crying over that one. They chose really good adoptive parents for that baby.
That's it. Have a great weekend and don't let all the shopping, decorating, baking, wrapping get you down. Take a deep breath and just relax.
