T.V. and other stuff

It's the new fall T.V. season and the finales of all the summer shows.  Thank the good Lord that Big Brother is over!  I don't even care that the loud obnoxious Rachel won.  She was a better choice than the other two lame-os.

Here is my take on what is going on right now:

Biggest Loser - Two new trainers and Bob have teams divided by age.  The young group chose the new guy that looks like a cross between Taye Diggs (yum) and the Old Spice dude (look at your man, now look at me).  I don't know if I could work out and stay focused while looking at him.  The middle (40-ish) group won the first challenge and got Bob.  The old farts who practically strolled and sauntered instead of running, jogging, or even trying got stuck with Anna Kournikova. (and I know I just mangled spelling her name, but whatever. I will look up the correct spelling later)

I love Bob.  But I have to say I miss Jillian yelling at everyone and being all up in their faces.  She gets the job done.  I haven't picked out a favorite contestant yet.  There's one young guy named Ramon that I like a lot and some other guy that if I am not looking at the screen and just listening, he sounds just like John Goodman.  The older team lost the first weigh-in and it was between 2 of the ladies as to who was going home.  Now it was easy to see that the one lady with the bad knees who only lost 4 FREAKING POUNDS was going to be chosen because other people were losing 27 - 32 pounds and she only lost 4 FREAKING POUNDS!  But then this other whiney lady stepped in and started berating her and just bitched her up one side and down the other for crying and trying to garner support with emotions.

You don't need much more information to guess who got sent packing.  They would rather keep Ol' Weak Knees around for another week than some Whiney-Ass Mean Bitch.  It was another case of "don't let the door knob hit ya!"

Survivor - I am so happy Survivor is back!  I kinda wish we could have Boston Rob on every season.  He really makes for great television.  But we can't.  So this season we have Ozzie back!!  Yay!  I love that Ozzie.  For those of you who don't watch Survivor and haven't yet enjoyed Ozzie, check this out.

They also brought back that moron, Coach the Dragonslayer.  This guy is such a tool it makes my head hurt to even think about him.

So they put the returning Ozzie and Coach each on the two different teams.  And guess who Coach's new best little running buddy is?  Evil Russell's nephew!  And o.m.g.!!!  What a total d-bag the nephew is!

Get this, he is pissed at this chick Micaela for being really well-built and strong and running around in almost nothing (like every other person on this island) and "tempting" him.  And he is married and doesn't need her evil distractions around.  So he is trying to rally the troops to get her voted out.  What an asshole.  He is clearly just a little troll like his uncle.

No real clear favorites here yet either.  We shall see as the personalities develop and come shining through.

This season True Blood has just about Jumped the Shark.  Every episode we watch and just say "Really?  That's where they want to go with this?"

First season was vampires.  Then shape-shifter Sam.  Then werewolves. Then whatever it was that MaryAnn was. And now we have were-panthers, all sorts of witchcraft, and faeries.  It's getting to be just a little much to keep up with.

And they totally messed with Erik's character.  This season's Erik is such a pussy.  Last season's Erik would kick this season's Erik's ass.

Bill (who I never liked) is just an ass. Sooki is an idiot.  Jason is dumber than a box of hair.  There is some wonderful comic relief with that Bellfleur clan.

Arlene the red-headed waitress was getting on to her rotten kids at the diner.  They were all dressed up for Halloween and she told them "Now y'all better straighten up or I am going to make you go trick or treat at the trailer park!  Do you WANT to get empty Coors cans and food stamps?"

Ha!  Now THAT was hilarious!

The Big C - is some of the best writing and acting on t.v. Laura Linney, Oliver Platt and company deserve big kudos for this show.  It is really wonderful.

Sons of Anarchy - Holy Moly!  This season started out with a bang.  A whole lot of bangs, actually.  All the boys are out of prison and ready to get back to business.  But wait!  There's a new sheriff in town.  And he's black!  And he hates them!  And he is secretly working with the FBI!  And he didn't let them even drive through town without letting them know he is in charge.  Ooooh.  This is a great show.

Sunny's back!!!  Yes indeedy, It's Always Sunny in Philly is back!  This is such a great show.  I can't say enough good things about it.  A little tidbit I came across in an article on home birth is that Dee, played by Kaitlin Olson is married to Rob McElhenney (who plays Mac on the show) in real life, and they did indeed have a baby this year.  At home, all safe and sound with no complications.  Hooray for home birth!  Hooray for Dee and Mac being married in real life!

Oooh!  Here is what prompted this particular post to be about t.v. There is a new show coming out (no release date yet) called Celebrity Wife Swap. Like the regular Wife Swap wasn't shitty enough.  You will NEVER in a million years guess who are the first two "Celebrities" who are swapping wives!!!

Ted I-am-not-gay Haggard and Gary Nutjob Busey

Can you even believe that?  I will let you know as soon as I see that this trainwreck is airing.

And in other news:

I heard back from Con-Agra who owns the parent company who owns Ro-Tel.  Con-Agra sees nothing wrong with BPA leaching into our food and is continuing in their practice to do this.  They are now going to do it without my support.

I looked online at the Hatch products website and found an actual phone number to call and speak with an actual person!  (gasp)  Here's how that went:

Me: dialing, listening to the ring

Them:  Hatch  (that was it.  Not, hello you have reached Hatch products, what can we do for you?)

Me: yes, I would like to not necessarily complain, but voice a consumer opionion.

Them:  Okay.

Me: Who would I need to speak with?

Them: Oh, you can tell me and I will relay the information.

Me:  Okay.  Here's the deal.  I love your products, especially the Green Chile Enchilada Sauce, but I am learning more and more about the BPA coating inside the cans and I won't be buying your products any more until that changes.

Them:  Oh.  I don't really know anything about that.  But I will tell someone about it.

A few more minutes of this same thing and I hung up.  What you will notice is:

A. It was really refreshing to have a phone number listed on the website to speak to real people.
B. That a real live person picked up the phone and didn't appear to be outsourced to Bangladesh.
C. That she NEVER ONCE asked me for my name, number, address or any follow-up information.
D. She seemed really unprepared to do this job.

That's it for today.  Enjoy your Thursday and one last thing, I am still looking for a home for the teensy little Mama Kitty.  She gets her tubes tied on Sunday morning and all her shots and will be ready to go to a loving home.

I have tried so many names out on her and none of them stick.  I think maybe it is because I know she isn't my cat and my name for her isn't supposed to really be her name.  The other cats have learned to peacefully co-exist with her, but they aren't warming up to her.  She really has no one to play with or snuggle with.  It makes me sad for her.

More Boston Rob headed your way!

I just found this article online that says that Boston Rob is going to be the star of the new reality show.

Here is the link to the People.com article.  In case you don't want to click over,  the pertinent facts are these:

"Mariano and monster truck impresario Dennis Anderson will star in a new series for History this year, PEOPLE has learned.

In Around the World in 80 Ways, Mariano and Anderson will challenge each other to circumnavigate the globe using 80 different methods of transportation with the caveat that each cannot repeat any way twice. "

Sounds to me like it might be worth tuning in for!

And here's another look at Boston Rob to tide you over till the new show starts.

T.V. Finales

So, I have been traveling to my nephew's graduation with his MBA and not here to post anything, but I am home for a while till the next nephew's graduation from high school in a few weeks!

And last night there were two great t.v. series' season finales.  First up was Survivor.

This whole season belonged to Boston Rob.  I can not think of a single thing he did that was wrong in hind sight, not even a teeny bit stupid.  He played impeccably.  He was driven, focused and never once got swayed into doing something stupid.  Unlike every other player on his team and the other.  Every single person (aside from BR) made a bone-headed move.  I am sooooooo happy that he won.  He deserved it and I can not imagine another outcome to this season.

Congratulations Boston Rob!

That Amber is a lucky girl, isn't she?  First, she proves herself to be the winner of her season.  She gets proposed to on national t.v.  Then they go on Amazing Race.  And now they each have won their own million bucks.  Plus he got the extra fan favorite $100,000.  So that's pretty cool, too.

My guess is that they will never let him play again.  Hee!

And then we had the season finale of Desperate Housewives.  Let me just say this:  If it weren't for Gabby & Carlos I would have shut the door on this show 2 or 3 seasons ago.  Gabby is just the perfect blend of hilarious self-centeredness and fierce love and loyalty to her husband, daughters and friends when needed.

Susan is ridiculous.  Just plain ridiculous.

Bree.  I don't even know what to say about her.

Lynette.  It is flat-out painful to watch her emasculate her husband week in and week out and then be shocked that he reacts to that treatment.

Thank God they have Karen McCluskey on that street to just tell those nasty bitches how things really are!

I am not sure if I will be able to stand another season of this show or not.  Any thoughts?

p.s. Less than 2 months to the new season of Big Brother!  Any one up for all-nighters watching the Showtime after dark and watching the feeds 24 hours?  Gawd, I hope there will be some fun and interesting characters this year.

T.V. shows 2011 Part 2

For some reason I am not posting a regular update on what's happening on t.v.  Maybe t.v. is lame? Maybe I have become all high-brow and don't watch as much t.v.?  Nah, that couldn't be it.

Here's what I do know!

Survivor - I love me some Boston Rob!  I hope he makes it.  I hope he kicks some ass and they never see it coming.  And Evil Fucking Russell?  *Ding dong, the witch is dead*!!!  The new people on this season that I love to watch are Phillip and his pink saggy drawers (ewww, and gross) and that other guy Ralph who is wearing the "awesome man sweater".  Have you ever in all your born days SEEN so much body hair?

You know what would be even grosser than all the above?  If Ralph was wearing Phillip's pink saggy drawers, that's what!

Sadly, I don't care for any of the women this season.  Not a one.

Amazing Race - This is shaping up to be a great season.  I love all these teams and am glad to see them back.  The most hilarious thing ever!  was last night when they were in China and Ron and Christina who being Chinese speak the language and have actually traveled in that area before were so far ahead he got to stop for some of his favorite snacks.  And then he kept wanting to stop and eat every five minutes.  The whole show was Christina saying "Dad!  Dad!  No, quit eating that.  No, you have to wait till the pit stop" Hee!!!

My Big Redneck Wedding - I know, you are asking yourself "what the hell is Lisa Pie talking about now?"  This is without a doubt, hands down the absolute trashiest show on t.v.  The funniest shit I have ever seen.  I love it.  This show is on either Friday or Saturday nights on CMT.  Love. It.!

Shameless - I don't know how they continue to top themselves week after week on this show.  Every person on here is so good.  Even characters you think are just in the periphery, will blaze in and just kick ass the next week.  Honestly, there are awards written all over this for these people. Five stars and two thumbs way up!

Big Love - It's almost over and there is absolutely no resolution anywhere on any front for any of these people.  I have no clue how they are going to end this series.  I have really enjoyed watching it over the seasons and hope like hell they are going to come up with a doozy of an ending.  None of those damn stupid Sopranos endings.

True Blood - sometime this summer the new season starts.  If you aren't up to date, you have plenty of time to get that way!

U.S. of Tara - coming soon!  Another big winner for Showtime.  Hurry and get caught up and be ready for the new season!

Top Shot - Ok, this show is on the History Channel.  Seems odd.  But they do use some really old weapons.  Maybe that is the connection?  I like this show a lot and I love Colby Donaldson and am glad to see him getting the work.

Modern Family - Hilarious!  Best comedy out there!  Can not say enough good things about this show. Watch it.

DWTS - Really?  It's coming soon and I am sooooo underwhelmed.  I will be watching Kirstie & Maks and probably ole Ralph Macchio.  But yeah, not the best casting ever.

Desperate Housewives - Paul Young?  His weirdo son?  Recycle ideas and bad guys much? You know, if it weren't for Gabby and Carlos I would have quit watching 2 seasons ago.

So we have the new cast of Celebrity Rehab announced, but as usual, no one we are all really rooting for and wanting this sobriety for them so bad.  You know what I mean?

That's all I can think of right now.  Let me know what you are watching and what you think!

More Randomness

Firstly, and most importantly, I want to say a big Thank You!  to all of you who are reading my drivel and still come back for more.  It does my heart good to see a comment or two.  So thank you.  You are appreciated.  And I mean that sincerely.

Secondly, Did you know that in 3 months and 9 days it will be Christmas?  Have you considered that?  Have you started your gift making, shopping, planning, listing, wrapping, decorating?  Any of it?  Heaven knows I haven't.  Good Lord, the year is 3/4 gone and I haven't even started!  Aaaarrrrgghh!  What am I going to do this year?  I feel like I am running out of ideas for good, clever and useful things to make.

Third, Halloween candy!  I am so excited about going shopping today for my first batch of Halloween candy.  Typically, I end up buying it 3 times between Sept. and Halloween.  So, today is the day!  Candy corn!  Reece's!  Teeny little Hershey's bars! Those cute little pumpkin things that taste just like Candy Corn!  Woot!!  Which is your favorite?

Fourth, Michael Franti has a new album coming out next week.  You need to run over to his site and check it out.  If you call me, you get to hear him on my Caller Tunes, plus he is also my default ringtone this year.

Fifth, Speaking of default ringtones; do you assign ringtones to certain individuals or groups of people?  I do.  And of course, I think some of my choices are hilarious!  Some are not necessarily hilarious but they are appropriate.

Sixth, tonight is the finale to the snoozefest that was Big Brother this summer.  And it is about flipping time.  Good Lord, has this season been boring.  Also, just before that is the season opener of Survivor with Jimmy Johnson and no hairspray.  I hope he hangs in for a really long time just so we can see him without hair products!  Love it!

Seventh, I wanted to update you on my sickly pet situation.  Fergus Jackson MacPhee, the kitty who was at death's door this summer?  36 hours before the cruise?  He is doing really well.  His transfusion plus this tonic made of vitamins and liver and heaven only knows what else has made a world of difference.  Not to mention all the prayers, well wishes and good vibes.  Yea Fergus!!  And Maxwell Banks II, the schnauzer with bladder stones?  He is on the mend and had all his staples removed from his incisions. He is on a special diet for now.

I am truly grateful for all your thoughts towards my little furry 4-legged babes.  Thanks, internet friends!!

T.V. shows 2010 Part 3 1/2

I know, I should have waited till Friday to do this so we could talk about the new season of Survivor.  But I have to talk about Lost!  Are y'all watching this? Here are my questions about this, the LAST and FINAL season:
1. Why are there NEW people?
2. Who are these new people?
3. Does anyone besides me like the dual reality things going on?  I really like it.  Reminds me of Sliding Doors.  Loved that movie!
4. Claire?  Claire!!  What have they done to you?
5. If Claire has gone to the dark side, does that mean that Jack's (and Claire's) dad was also on the dark sides since the last time we saw Claire she was with old Christian in the shack that Jacob built?
6. Are Sun and Jin ever getting together?
7. What is up with the new Asian dude?  and his weirdo "interpreter"?
8. Do we know what time they are in now?  With all the time jumping they were doing I am unclear where they are now.

BIG LOVE - all I can say is WTF????   Strange goings-on over in Utah.  What is up with Bill?  Why is he so determined to run for Senator?  I agree with Joey that he is much more suited to being the new Prophet for the Juniper Creek gang.  And as good as all the actors are on this show, my hat is off to Bruce Dern.  OMG!  He is freakin' hilarious!  His character is absolutely the biggest dick I have ever seen.  What a hoot!  He must have so much fun being this guy.  I love it.  I still think Bill has lost it.

Intervention - Did you see this week's episode?  That girl flat-ass refused to participate, refused to get help, refused to have anything to do with any of her family.  I sure hope it turns out okay for her.

Hoarders - I was noticing in the most recent showing of Hoarders that these people are all seriously depressed.  Have you noticed that?  I am sure I would be depressed if I had that much crap caving in on me.  It is so sad to watch those.

Celebrity Fit Club - Ha!  New season just started up with the fat version of K-Fed, his before-Britney-girlfriend Shar Jackson, fat Sebastian Bach, fat Bobby Brown and some other people I can't remember.  So funny!  Harvey is going to be kicking some fat musical asses this season!!  : )

So set your tivo, your dvr, or whatever you record your shows with for Thursday for Survivor and Sunday for the newest and most excellent semester of Tool Academy!  Fittingly starting up on Valentine's Day.  Someone at vh1 has a wicked sense of humor!

Monday Ramblings, etc.

Last night on TAR was really no surprise. I am only truly sorry that Jaime of Jaime and Cara is still in the race. If we could vote her out and keep Cara in, I would be fine with that. My hope is that when she SEES the show and realizes what the rest of the world sees in her, she will make some major changes. Talk about humble pie being needed!! Lordy, Lordy, that girl is a piece of work. And we are down to the final 3. Any favorites in this group?

Next week is the season finale of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Already? Yep, it is. I have got to get down to the library and look for that series of books and get to reading. If any survey people ask you if this show should be brought back for another season, please say yes!

Survivor - too bad it had to be Sierra instead of that idiot liar Coach. Maybe it is better that he has to suck up and squirm for another week? I don't know. He just irritates the beejeebers out of me and he needs to go. Can you imagine anything worse than him winning the million? How about this for scary, what if he won AND Jaime and Cara won on TAR? Now that my friends would be the worst thing ever!!!

DWTS - Who all was surprised at Chuck and Julianne being voted out? I was. I know Chuckie is not the greatest dancer, but we all love Julianne. I guess Chuck doesn't have as many voters in Alabama (or wherever he said) as he thought he did. Because he sure had better judges' scores than Melissa.

My friend Kristin was in town and we had breakfast and visited this morning and did a little shopping. How much fun was that? The best! Now, I have to start baking that cursed Amish Fiendish Bread and do some laundry. Oh joy! Could I ask for more excitement? (Did you notice all the sarcasm?)

Lots of big show season finales coming up this month. So check your local listings and don't miss them!

Survivor!

Ok, who saw Survivor Thursday night? Anyone? Well, I had to wait to see it until Friday because my local CBS station was pre-empting all the line up with the Spurs game. Which was a disaster of Biblical proportions, may I say. Ye Gads! Today's game better more than make up for that crap that passed as a game on Thursday.

Back to Survivor . . . . OMG! Can I just say OMG again??? I loved it! I loved it! What a hoot! After ole Tyson says to Sierra, "I know you weren't the mastermind, you aren't smart enough". Well, karma is a bitch, ain't it? Don't you love it when smug bastards get their come-uppance? I sure as hell do! Makes for great television, don't it?? :)

And what was almost as good was watching Coach the Moron deflating as the votes were read. Watching him realize he DOESN'T have this whole thing in the bag was priceless. Don't get me wrong, I like Tyson. I think he had the potential to win this game. But he got seriously cocky and that was his downfall. Coach, well there are no words to describe his cockiness. We shall see if he eats some humble pie this coming week.

Another thing I loved was that they didn't tell Sierra what was going on. I know that sounds mean, but she isn't a good enough actress to have pulled off what they did. But watching the realization that she just might squeak by was equally as good as watching Tyson realize that he is hitting the road. And don't let the door knob hit ya! Ha!

How much fun was this episode? Especially after watching the Coach/Tyson alliance berate her and act like schoolyard bullies all week before the vote. Makes you love that Steven a little, doesn't it? Aaaah, it's a great thing!

Don't forget to go to Brendan's new company's website and sign up for free burrito coupons. Still good till Coach gets voted out. I sure wish you could see how happy, jovial and bubbly I am over here!!

Coach, you better come down a notch or two and you better be watching your ass!
