Shamelessly stealing a great tag line!

Pet Bull.  That's what June Gardens over at Bye Bye Pie was posting about today.  Her beautiful dog Tallulah is a rescue dog and June did that DNA thing where they tell you what breeds are in your dog. Turns out Tallulah is part American Staffordshire Terrier and Beagle amongst other breeds.  Am Staffs are one of the breeds known collectively as "Pit Bulls".

My little Ernest T. Bass is also Am Staffie and who knows what else.  Because I have not had his DNA tested yet.  I can't decide whether it is better to know and put expectations on him or to not know.  You know what I mean?

Anyhoo, here are some even newer photos of Ernest T. Bass wearing his new fun dress-up collar and carrying his Big Bone around in the front yard.  Oh yeah, that's Mr. Big Ed with him.

Enjoy!

Is that just about the most handsome puppy you have ever seen?  Aaah, a man and his dog.  And get this, that Big Bone?  Ernest T. has been carrying it around for 18 months.  It was his Christmas gift a year and a half ago!  Here is what is interesting; Ernest T. eats everything.  He has an oral fixation you can't believe.  He has eaten about 12 beds, and every toy he has ever had.  But not the Big Bone.  He carries it proudly and shows it off to everyone.  His head goes way up with the snout pointing up in the air when he has his Big Bone in his mouth.  And that tail just flaps aways like a whip hitting you if you are anywhere near it!  So happy and proud is he with his Big Bone.

Now why on earth would he NOT eat the rawhide bone and yet eat 12 beds?  Not good planning if you ask me, Ernest T.!  Oh, and I do not buy him any more beds.  Mr. Big Ed felt sorry for him not having a comfortable bed inside his dog house or in his night time kennel so he bought him two blankets at Goodwill for Christmas this year.

He ate them both already.  I really do heart my Pet Bull.

  1. Flouncy collar is tres' chic! Definitely love a man, er dog that is in touch with his feminine side. Ernest T. seems to have no problem dealing with the spotlight. He is darling with the bone.

I have a rottie-pitt mix. I would love to do a DNA test to know for sure, but the price is a bit prohibitive.

Love Ernest T. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Oh my! He's so cute!! I love dogs, I just love 'em. Big ones, small ones, but not really the yappy ones. :)

  3. How cute is Ernest T. Bass? And all dressed up in his party dress, too. And who is proud of his big bone? Ernest T. Bass is who!

When I was at PetSmart the other day, they had the DNA test kits at the register. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be, about $80 (I think) but I think I'll pass on testing Gracie Lou. We're pretty sure she's Border Collie/Australian Shepherd with maybe some American Eskimo tossed in. But we're positive she's pretty and that's good enough.

  5. I shall have to do a similar post about my Siberian Husky, the Princess Nikita Babushka. Out of the gazillion pets around here that I have cook for, clean up after, and play doorman for, she is the only one that is "mine".

I think she deserves a little attention, too. : )

  6. I can't believe he wears the gorgeous collar. My big dog gets depressed if you put anything on her but her dog collar. And my Bella does the very same thing with her big bone! She, too, got it for Christmas 2 years ago and she's never tried to chew it, not once. Just carries it around. I wonder why that is!

He is a real beauty you got there.

  7. Joann, you should see our Mini. Schnauzer when we put clothes or hats or anything on him. He stands there looking depressed with his head hung low staring at the ground and refuses to move. Will. not. move. a muscle. Not even for treats. That dog really hates his little hat the most.

when we lived in Minnesota I bought him some little boots to wear in the snow. He hated those too. What a surprise!

  8. Ernest T. is such a handsome boy, indeed. That is so funny about the Big Bone. That's about the size of the bone that our little Princess (5lbs) stole from my brother's dog (70lbs) a few Thanksgivings ago. She was wise enough to drag it under the table, where he could not get it back.

I have tried to convince my brother to DNA test their dog....

  10. Do you have any idea how long I had to sit here and read your blog illegally at work in order to find a picture of Ernest T. Bass? You mentioned him in my comments today and I had to find a photo. How bad do I love him and his big big pitty bull head? I say Pit (Pet) Bull/Boxer/German shepherd/Jewish atheist.
